--I would like to thank you all for visiting the club web site, whether you are joining or just visiting. We hope you enjoy your stay. -- Mark Fisher |
We have a new club banner for non-members to use on their web site. If you would like to have a banner and link it back to our club, you may put the above banner on your web site if you so desire. Copy the logo to your hard-drive by right-clicking on it and choosing "save as" in the menu.
DO NOT LINK DIRECTLY TO THE LOGO.
It all started when I spent several weeks trying to locate a web site for small air cooled engines only. And searching for people with the same interests as I had. Seems the only things I could come up with was sites, and clubs for flywheel engines, tractors, and a few for garden tractors.
Where is everything for small engines. The only thing I found was Bob Learneds pages with tons of info about old Briggs engines. So I was playing around with the Internet and ran across the yahoo site, and found I could start a club site there. So I thought I would give it a shot. After a few days there was finally 4 or 5 members. It was going nowhere, till I received an e-mail from Tony Kimmell replying that he had the knowledge to design a web site and though Jim Dunmeyer would be able to host the site for free. The key here was free, so I told him since I didn't know beans about how to do any of this ( which I still don't ) he could do what ever he wanted. ( remember, there was only 4 or 5 members at the time )
So on 1/4/99 he sent me a link to the A.S.E.C.C.. WOW I was very impressed. I really didn't think this would really ever happen. Tony designed the entire old site at the time, even came up with the logo and name. We were really going places now.Seems that the only problem was the message board disappeared and Tony had to hand key ALL the classified ads, we needed to get this thing automated bad.
Seems after some time went by, everything with the club died, don't know what really happened. After a few months went by, I called Dale ( yes he is my cousin ) and said he would be willing to try and run the clubs site, or design a new club for he really hated to see it disappear. So I told him to go for it if he wanted to give it a shot.
Well I guess the rest is history, for you can see how the club has sky rocketed, sure wish there were more sites and clubs out there for small engines. Also seems to be a little interest in small engines, now over 12,000 hits since January 4,1999. I want to thank Tony for everything he had done to develop the old club site. I also commend Dale for coming in and keeping it alive for everyone to enjoy and getting the clubs site automated and for starting our own domain. We've came a long way from that little yahoo site, to having our own domain. www.asecc.com
So there you have it, the reason for this club was mainly to meet other
people with the same interest as I did, and to share knowledge, and hear about
those treasure hunts when you find that special engine. Its really a great
feeling to bring an old junk engine back to life again, and remembering the
fun you had while listening to her running at an idle.
Till next time. Keep those pistons loose.
