Johnson Iron Horse Shrouds

Back to Main Iron Horse Page.

Shown here is an early shroud found on X100, X200 and very
early X300 series. These shrouds had a two-piece tag. The holes in the shroud
are found in sets of two or three. Some are threaded and some are just blank holes.
It seems that these holes were used for belt guards primarily on wash machines.
These holes were also found on X400 series engines.
|

This is a typical shroud found on all later models. They had
a one-piece tag located on the side of the shroud. The little boss at the lower
left of the shroud is an air deflector to direct air over the cylinder fins.
|

This shroud was used on an air-vain governor engine. Air vain
governor engines were only made in Canada. This shroud has a screen. Engines that
were used on lawn mowers had a screen to keep grass from getting into the flywheel
fins.
